* : The Effects of the CSDDD and Omnibus proposal - A new study by Prof. J. Jäger

Brussels, 30 September 2025

  • To the members of the EP Committee on the Environment, Climate and Food Safety (ENVI)

Dear Members of the European Parliament,

Against the background of the ‘simplification’ of the CS3D/CSRD under the Omnibus I, ETUC, CIDSE, Misereor, ver.di and other organisations commissioned an economic study to scientifically examine the potential economic effects of the CS3D and the Omnibus I package. This study by Prof. Johannes Jäger was presented yesterday during an event in the European Parliament. In case you were not able to attend this event, in the attached letter, you can find the link to the study as well as a short summary of the main findings and conclusions. For your convenience, we also attach the final version of the study to this email.

We hope this study will be useful in your further work in the European Parliament to ensure the strongest possible CS3D and to guarantee that the EU continues its commitment to be a frontrunner on the protection of human (including social and trade union rights) and environmental rights!

In the meantime, we remain at your disposal, and for any further information/clarifications, please do not hesitate to reach out to me ([email protected] ) or Stefan Clauwaert (ETUC Senior Legal and Human Rights advisor; [email protected] ).

Best regards

Isabelle Schömann
