Contribution needed : Algorithm management survey
Brussels, 24 October 2024
- To: Member of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Platform Work
- To: ETUC Member Organisations
Dear Colleagues,
We are reaching out to ask for your help again with the dissemination of the survey on algorithm management.
The number of received answers does not match our representativeness in the field, and we would therefore ask you to make an additional effort and forward the survey to workers' representatives in the platform economy.
Please note that the survey is short, and the explanatory answers can be submitted in any language.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation and remain at your disposal for any further questions.
Kind regards,
Tea Jarc

Dear colleagues,
As you know, the proliferation of algorithmic management practices creates new challenges for unions in organising workplaces and bargaining for better terms and conditions. The platform work directive is an important step further, but we will further advocate for further regulation of Algorithmic systems in the workplace to ensure a gender-responsive worker protection approach to how these systems are deployed at work and in particular to strengthen their individual and collective rights, such as information, consultation and participation, questions related to new and existing occupational health and safety issues as well as the protection of their data.
Via the new ETUC project, Fair Platforms, we would like to build capacities our members and enable you to navigate those new challenges.
In order to better understand your experiences with negotiating the algorithms and needs of your union, we have developed a survey that should be filled in by union representatives and organisers working in the platform economy.
The survey should not take more than 10 minutes, and it is possible to submit answers in your language. The deadline for submitting your answers is 18th October.
The objective of the survey is to capture a realistic picture of the ‘on the ground’ situation therefore please note that answers should be done without any research or external references.
We kindly ask you to forward the survey to all colleagues and trade union members who are concerned by this topic and involved in any aspect of the algo-management.
For any further questions, do not hesitate to contact Lucie Susova ([email protected]).
We thank you in advance for your cooperation and we are looking forward to discussing further this topic with you in our upcoming workshop in Denmark.
Kind regards,
Tea Jarc
