Call to Action : Workers' Memorial Day 2022: Zero Death Manifesto
To: Members of the ETUC Standing Committee on Occupational Safety and Health
To: ETUC member organisations
Brussels, April 13th 2022
Dear colleagues,
Thank you to all of you who have sent signatures as requested.
You will receive the Zero Death Manifesto with signatures on April 21.
You will also receive graphics in various formats and a press release on the same day in one email. It will also be sent to affiliates communications departments on the same day.
I am pleased to say it includes Ministers and MEPs; trade union leaders; Occupational Health and Safety organisations, journal/magazine editors and magazines, and professors and experts.
The final deadline for signatories is 15 April if you still want to add a signatory.
Yours sincerely,
Claes-Mikael Ståhl
ETUC Deputy General Secretary
Dear colleagues,
This is a reminder of our previous request made to members of the ETUC OSH Committee to obtain ONE signature for the Zero Death ‘manifesto’ which we will launch for Workers Memorial Day 28 April. This will start an initiative that will run until Workers Memorial Day 2023, to build support for initiatives at European and national level that would deliver Zero Death at work by 2030.
We are hereby enlarging the scope of addressees and also submitting the call to the list of members of the ETUC member organisations.
We suggest you get a distinguished Professor of Occupational Health (or similar title).
If this is not possible, we suggest another person with an important standing in relation to health and safety in your country (but not a minister or MEP – see below for that).
Feel free to also add the General Secretary or President of your union.
ETUC will seek the signatures of MEPs and Ministers, and may be in touch with you about MEPs and Minister from your country.
Regrettably, we did not take Easter into account when suggesting deadlines. Please send THE SIGNATURE YOU OBTAINED WITH FULL NAME AND TITLE BY 13 APRIL.
You will then receive a nicely laid out version of the manifesto, with all signatures, by 19 April, along with some visuals, hashtag etc.
Yours sincerely,
Claes-Mikael Ståhl
ETUC Deputy General Secretary
